Helo a chroeso i'r Blog Cwrw  

Penderfynais ddechrau’r blog hwn pan sylweddolais does dim un blog iaith Gymraeg sy’n drafod cwrw crefft (hyd yr wn i). Mae cwrw crefft yn phenomenon byd-eang, a mae’n bosib eiflasu mewn bron pob wlad, a mae’n bosib darllen blogs am gwrw crefft yn nwsinau o ieithoedd. Felly pam na’r Gymraeg?

Mae’n bwysig nodi bod enw’r blog yn cynnwys “Cymreig” yn hytrach na “Chymraeg”. Er bod yr elfen ieithyddol ynbwysig, mae’r ochr diwylliannol, cymdeithasol ac hanesyddol o’r persbectif Cymreig hefyd yn bwysig, oherwydd mae gan Gymru sector Cwrw Crefft sydd wedi ffrwydo a ffynnu dros y flynyddoedd diwethaf. 

Dyma ni felly. Beth fydd cynnwys a ffocws y blog? Wel, byddai’n croesawu syniadau, ond dyma rhai pethau byddai’n ceisio cynnwys:
• Bars a thafarndai cwrw crefft yn Nghymru. (Dwi’n bywyn Nghaerdydd, felly mi fydd, wrth gwrs tuedd at sefydliadau yfed yn y ddinas honno, mae’n flin gen i).
• Bragdai cwrw crefft Cymreig – gan gynnwys adolygiadau o gwrw.
• Trafodaeth ynglyn a chwrw crefft diddorol o du hwnt i Gymru… Os dof i ar draws cwrw da ar wyliau, byddai’n ceisio’i drafod yma.
• Trafodaeth ynglyn a steils gwahanol o gwrw.
• Unrhywbeth arall diddorol ynglyn a chwrw crefft.

Mae rhaid imi nodi cwpl o bwyntiau eraill:
• Ni fydd yr iaith wastad yn bur neu yn berffaith
• Byddai’n ceisio cadw’r mwyafrif o’r blogs yn gymharol byr (haws i’w hysgrifennu a haws i’w ddarllen!)
• Wrth gwrs, mae’r blog hwn yn annog defnydd alcohol synhwyrol, gan ddilyn argymhellion y GIG ynglyn a chyfaint dyddiol dyle pobl yfed.

Wales reaches 100 Breweries - the full list

For the first time since probably the 1930s, Wales now has over 100 active breweries. The last decade has seen a dramatic increase in the number of Welsh micro-breweries, with growth outstripping all other parts of the UK apart from London . Over the past couple of years, it has regularly been predicted that Wales would soon break the 100 brewery barrier, with 88 independent breweries recorded in 2015 . It now appears that we have reached that landmark figure. Below, we have listed all the active breweries in Wales – giving a total of 115. Four of those breweries are not yet brewing commercially (denoted by *). However, even discounting those 4 companies still leaves a total of 111 breweries operating in Wales. Welsh Beer Review of 2017

As we approach the end of 2017 it seems like a good time to reflect upon the year. We've seen an exciting year of change on the Welsh beer scene and it would be impossible to capture every single development here. With that in mind, I've decided to list a few of the highlights below: Tiny Rebel First of all we start with arguably Wales’s biggest craft brewery, Tiny Rebel.  It’s been a big year for the Newport brewers, moving into a state of the art new premises in Rogerstone, enabling a significant expansion in production and the development of an onsite bar and brewery tours.  A slight down-note for Tiny Rebel has been the recent case involving the branding of their Cwtch beer. However, an optimist would note the significant publicity and exposure the brewery has received off the back of this episode… In spite of this recent blip, there’s no doubt that 2017 has been a great year for Tiny Rebel. 100 Beers from Wales you must try: 21-30

Here is the third post in this series, taking us through numbers 21 to 30... 21. Otley - O1 Sadly, Otley closed in early 2018, so there are only a few bottles of this award winning beer floating around. If you get a chance - try it before it’s gone! It’s a great beer with a nuanced aroma of hay, honey and bitter hops. A well balanced palate which is moderately bitter. Refreshing and very drinkable!  22. Bragdy Twt Lol - Glo in the Dark Bragdy Twt Lol is one of my favourite breweries. I could’ve selected any of half a dozen beers for this list but have gone with Glo in the Dark, which is Dark Ale. Rich roasted malt and coffee on the nose are followed by a surprisingly bitter palate driven by hops, which gives an unexpected kick to the beer, which retains a malty sweeteners in the background.
